Have Your Special Event Videotaped

(Return to Home Page)

This service is normally available in the N.H. R.I., or the Boston area only. RTFFX may agree to do a project in other geographical areas and additional fees for travel expenses and other costs may be required. Such additional costs would be negotiated before you submit a deposit. Travel is included in packages if specified as included.
The Wedding Package Price is $750.00 and it has it's own page which is available here.

If you have a special event and need someone to videotape it for you, you have come to the right place!

Already own a camcorder? You still might want to have someone else (namely RTFFX) tape it for you so that you can just relax! RTFFX saves you the headache and makes this option even more attractive by offering low-cost videotaping services. Or, help out with your equipment and add your own camera to the mix (literally!), and create video from different viewpoints. Interesting video can be created when the raw video from more than one camera is edited together.

Below is the "Videotaping Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):".

Videotaping FAQ
What sort of events could be videotaped?
Examples:
  • Weddings & Receptions. There is a wedding package available which includes videotaping services and DVD authoring. This is described on its own page here.
  • Wedding Anniversary Parties
  • Graduations
  • Birthday Parties
  • Religious Events - Confirmation, First Communion, Bar Mitzvahs, Baptism.
  • Participation in Sports - Preserve the memorable moments or demonstrate one's ability for a college scholarship application.
What kind of a camcorder is used?
RTFFX uses a higher quality digital camcorder than most people are likely to own themselves. A 3 CCD camera (one CCD "chip" for each of the 3 primary colors in the image) is used.
Can you shoot the video in "Widescreen Mode"?
Yes. The video would be stored on the DVD as "Anamorphic Video".A brief and non-technical explanation of what this means is: having the camera "squish" the video horizontally (left and right), storing it on the DVD in that form, and then having the DVD player "un-squish" it when it plays it on your widescreen TV.
I don't own a widescreen TV. Should I still have the video shot in widescreen mode?
It depends. If you expect the video to never or rarely be played on a widescreen (16:9) TV, then widescreen mode would NOT be recommended, unless it is viewed on a large television, for the reason that widescreen video is shown "letterboxed" on a 4:3 (original standard) sized TV. In other words, the picture is shrunk in both directions until it fits the screen left-to-right. There is not enough image in the vertical (up and down) direction to fill the screen, so the result is that one ends up with horizontal black bars at the top and bottom of the screen. It is the addition of the black bars that is called "letterboxing". This effect may not be bothersome however, if you view it on a fairly large 4:3 TV, however.
I can use so called "widescreen TVs". What if I DON'T shoot it in widescreen mode?
Then you'll have to deal with a different sort of "letterboxing". Now there will be vertical black bars on the left and right! The more rectangular picture does not fit on a screen that is wider than it is.
What are the advantages of using a digital camcorder?
The video created by a digital camera can be transferred to a computer without incurring any loss of quality of the video. Exact copies of the video may also be made, again with no loss of picture quality in each copy made. Since the sound is also recorded digitally, it too does not experience any loss in sound quality when it is transferred or copied.
Do you have a backup camcorder?
Yes, in case of an unlikely malfunction of our "main camera", an attempt will be made to rent another (at no charge to the customer) or the backup will be used if this is not possible. If it is necessary to use a backup, a discount of 50% will be applied.
How about sound?
Usually a two channel stereo "shotgun" microphone, attached to the camera, is used. For most purpose, this turns out to be more than adequate. Other types of microphones would be used, as appropriate. Wireless microphones would be used, for example, to isolate someone's voice or a small number of people's voices during an activity such as making a speech or during a wedding, reciting wedding vows. If you have other sound requirements, please contact RTFFX.
How about digital sound?
The sound is always recorded as a stereo digital soundtrack, of at least music CD quality, unless specifically requested otherwise.
What about more than one camera or other types of sound, such as more than two channel stereo?
Contact RTFFX. More than likely it can be done. Indicate what you want to do. Certainly RTFFX can author DVDs with multiple video tracks, and/or "surround" soundtracks.
So I can get the results on DVD?
Certainly, highly recommended as well. Just add one of the DVD packages, if it is not already included, and everything will be all set. If you want the output in some other form, you can also do that (formats are on the editing page.), but editing is extra for those cases. In other words, editing is included only in some packages.
Can I get the master digital tapes or copies of them?
Yes. Asking for the actual master tapes implies that RTFFX won't keep a copy. Otherwise you can request a copy on one of the common consumer digital tape formats.Theoretically you could take the tapes to someone else to edit the video, or edit them yourself, but you would naturally only do this if you haven't asked RTFFX to edit the video for you.
Will I need to provide a deposit?
For larger projects as this, yes. To "officially" reserve a date and a time, RTFFX requests a deposit for at least 10 % of the price. Certain packages may require a specified deposit. This is completely refundable up to five (5) business days before the event, if you wish to cancel. A project is not considered agreed to until RTFFX accepts the deposit.
Do I have to sign a contract? If I don't, will you show up?
A contract is optional. RTFFX has never failed to appear to tape a special event.
